01. BackgroundA Store for Every Baker

Bakes is a professional store for baking equipment and raw materials, with a physical shop in Yehud and delivery across Israel. Its audience is broad: home bakers, professional pastry chefs and small business owners. With more than 2,600 products, the challenge was to build an online store where every baker finds what they need fast, buys with ease and comes back.

The Core Challenges:

  • A Deep Catalog, Clear Navigation: 81 categories, from raw materials and chocolate to packaging and cake decorations, and hundreds of products with sizes and colors. Customers must reach the right product in a few clicks.
  • Every Type of Customer: From someone buying a single pan to a business ordering in bulk. Everyone needs a fast, transparent shopping experience with clear pricing and free shipping above ₪399.
  • Repeat Purchases & Loyalty: Bakers return to the same store again and again, so the store needed tools that strengthen the relationship: a digital gift card and a customer club with points and perks.
  • Replacing a Site Without Losing Traffic: An existing WordPress site with Google rankings, customers and orders. The move had to preserve product URLs and the relationship with customers.
  • Mobile Without Compromise: A store and an admin panel that perform just as well on a phone, with no loss of speed or convenience.

02. ApproachThe Logicode Solution

Instead of continuing to build on a theme and dozens of plugins, we built Bakes a custom platform end to end: a fast, clean store in the brand's warm tone, built around the baker. Clear categories, live search, a home page featuring new arrivals and deals, a cart that shows how much is left for free shipping, and a short checkout that ends with card payment and an automatic invoice.

On top of the store we added a layer of service and loyalty, all part of the same system: a digital gift card, a tiered customer club, Google sign-in, an installable PWA app and Logicode's accessibility and privacy plugins. Alongside it we built an admin panel where the Bakes team sees the numbers, handles orders and creates shipments, even from a phone.

03. The ClubA Loyalty Club Built Into the Store

The Bakes club is not a third-party add-on. It is part of the store: the same account, the same cart and the same admin panel. An existing customer who joins keeps their account, and a new customer joins with one click during checkout.

  • Three tiers: Vanilla, Caramel and Belgian Chocolate. The more a customer buys, the higher they climb, and the tier and progress are shown in their account.
  • Points in batches: every order creates a batch of points valid for 12 months. Customers see exactly how many points they have and when each batch expires.
  • Simple redemption: points are redeemed in steps of 100, right inside the checkout flow.
  • No double sign-up: join at checkout, and an existing customer continues with the same account.
  • Full automation: five automated emails across the member's lifecycle, a birthday gift and a daily job that maintains the club with no manual work.
  • A dedicated club page: bakes.co.il/club with an FAQ and MemberProgram structured data, so Google and AI engines understand what the club offers.

Current status: the club is in early sign-up. Those who register early receive 100 bonus points, and the full launch is coming soon.

Core System Components

Everything we built for Bakes, from the store the customer sees to the tools the team uses every day.

Three mobile store screens: the gift card page, the account overview and the customer's order list

Catalog, Search & a Sales-Driven Home Page

More than 2,600 products in 81 categories, live search and category group pages that surface best sellers. The home page highlights new arrivals, deals and a shelf of site-exclusive ₪15 products.

Smart Cart & Free Shipping Meter

The cart shows in real time how much is left to reach ₪399 for free shipping, suggests small add-ons at the till with one click and shows custom product badges. Savings and discounts are calculated correctly even with a coupon.

A Variation Picker That Never Dead-Ends

600+ products come with size, color and other variations. The picker marks unavailable combinations up front so customers never hit a dead end, and shows color swatches and an image that changes with the selection.

Digital Gift Card

A gift card from ₪50 up to ₪1,500 with a personal message, delivered by email and valid for 5 years. It is recorded as a payment method rather than a discount, with a receipt, expiry reminders and manual issuing from the panel.

The Bakes Club

Three tiers, points that expire after 12 months, joining at checkout and a birthday gift. All the details are in the club section above.

Card Payments & Automatic Invoices

Card-only payments with an invoice generated automatically, attached to the confirmation email and always available in the customer's account. The return from the payment provider was built so a paid order is recorded reliably.

Organized Shipping & Emails

Create a shipment and a courier label straight from the panel, with separate emails for the store and the customer: the customer gets a clean, clear confirmation, and the team gets the operational details.

Customer Account & Google Sign-In

A personal area with order history, invoices and club points, and Google sign-in that verifies the email address is confirmed before an account is created.

PWA App, Accessibility & Privacy

The store can be installed as a mobile app, and comes with a full accessibility menu and a cookie banner that logs consent. The result is a store that is convenient, compliant and open to everyone.

Admin Panel with Reports

A dashboard with revenue and order charts, a report builder with Excel export, a built-in guide inside the panel and a sidebar in the brand's tone. Everything is contrast-tested and works well on mobile.

Built-In SEO & GEO

Linked schema.org data, a product feed for Google Merchant Center, an llms.txt file and a robots.txt that recognizes AI crawlers, automatically composed descriptions and a sitemap, so the store is found both in search and in AI answers.

1,600+ Automated Tests

Automated tests, including color-contrast checks, protect the store with every change. New capabilities can be added without breaking what already works.

04. Under the HoodA Platform Written for Bakes' Needs

Beneath the interface is a system written for Bakes' needs, not a ready-made theme with dozens of plugins. That is what keeps the store fast, stable and flexible to change.

Admin reports screen: a selector for what to measure and segment by, cards for revenue, orders, average order value and customers, and a comparison chart against the previous period
Reports · Choose what to measure, how to break it down and which period to compare against, then export. A screenshot of the panel; the figures were replaced with sample ones.
  • Technology: Laravel, Livewire and Alpine in the store, and Filament in the admin panel.
  • A move without downtime: product and category URLs were preserved, 301 redirects handled, and missing URLs are collected in a 404 log for review and fixing.
  • Measurement: a unified data layer for Google Tag Manager, so every event is counted exactly once.
  • Privacy & security: cookie-consent logging, CSRF protection in payment flows and Google sign-in only for verified emails.
  • Automatic maintenance: scheduled jobs instead of manual work, such as the club's daily upkeep and gift-card expiry reminders.
  • Built-in guide: a full user guide written inside the panel, so new team members start working without outside training.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why build a custom online store instead of staying on WordPress?

When a store needs business rules of its own, such as a club with expiring points, a gift card recorded as a payment method and a variation picker that never dead-ends, a custom platform gives full control, speed and less dependence on plugins. It is not always the right call: for a small, simple store WordPress still fits, and for Bakes, with more than 2,600 products and unique needs, the custom platform paid off.

How do you migrate an existing store without losing Google rankings?

You keep product and category URLs as they were, set up 301 redirects for every URL that changed, monitor missing URLs in a 404 log, and add a sitemap, structured data and a product feed for Google Merchant Center. Rankings, orders and customers move to the new platform without a gap.

How does the Bakes customer club work?

The club has three tiers: Vanilla, Caramel and Belgian Chocolate. Every order earns points, each batch of points is valid for 12 months, and points are redeemed in steps of 100. Customers can join at checkout, and an existing customer keeps the same account. The club is currently in early sign-up, with 100 bonus points for those who join.

How does the digital gift card work?

The customer picks an amount from ₪50 to ₪1,500 and writes a personal message, and the card is emailed to the recipient. It is valid for 5 years and the recipient chooses products from the whole catalog. The card is recorded as a payment method rather than a discount, which keeps the accounting clean.

Can the store be managed from a phone?

Yes. The admin panel is mobile-friendly: you can view orders and revenue, handle an order and create a shipment and courier label from anywhere. The store itself also works as an installable PWA app.

How do you start an online store project with Logicode?

You start with a short discovery meeting that defines the catalog, the sales and management processes and the tools the business needs, and from there you get a proposal and a work plan. You can reach us on WhatsApp or through the contact page.

A fast, pleasant, easy-to-run store that guides the customer from search to payment, and gives the Bakes team full control over management. A baker walks in, finds what they need, and gets a reason to come back.
The Impact

What does a custom online store include for a business with a large catalogue?

In a large catalogue, the key is finding and buying fast. A custom online store builds around that with clear categories, live search, filtering by availability, price, colour and quantity, and a variation picker that pre-marks unavailable combinations so the customer never hits a dead end. Bakes has hundreds of products with variations, so this was a real need. The cart shows how much is missing for free shipping, and checkout is short, ending in payment and an invoice. We apply this approach in store and website development and in advanced systems projects.

On top of the store it makes sense to build a loyalty layer: a digital gift card registered as a payment method, and a customer club that shares the same account and cart. You also need an admin panel with reports and shipment creation, accessibility and privacy features, and automated tests that let you add capabilities without breaking what exists. A store that runs on a stable, secure server needs suitable hosting and security. Another example of a custom store is Central Bark. You can check the cost in the calculator and start with a scoping call.
